How We Do It

After assessment, we can agree your treatment plan & set appropriate goals. Treatment is based on task related training & exercise to enable skill acquisition in the restoration of your optimal functional motor performance.

Often the tasks need to be broken down into manageable components that can be practiced, when many of these components are put together the tasks may be practiced as a whole movement or skill.

This may involve walking around your house or garden, sit to stand from a specific chair. The reaching and manipulation of everyday objects. The ability to balance or adjust posture according to a specific task.

This approach is based on the Movement sciences, such as biomechanics, muscle & central nervous system physiology, motor learning ,and environmental factors. Of course there are many more.

It is an approach that is continuously being adapted as research into the movement sciences pushes forwards.
